South Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Rochford Hospital

Why it is interesting: Rochford Hospital, part of South Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, is a mental health hospital that underwent a £25m redevelopment and was opened in February 2008. The building is highly efficient and the redevelopment involved implementing high frequency lighting and LEDs throughout the building and variable speed drives on most of the motors.

South West Essex Community Services

NHS South West Essex - Mayflower

Why it is interesting: South West Essex Community Services is the leading provider of community health services in South West Essex. Each year they provide advice, care and treatment to more than 80,000 children, adults and older people. Their expert teams cater for people of all ages from new-born babies to older people. They provide care and support for patients in a range of settings, including health centres, community hospitals and their own homes.

Annual Savings: kWh: 12.1% | CO2: 11,600kg | £2,140

South West London & St George's Mental Health Trust

Richmond Royal hospital

Why it is interesting: Since being formed in 1994, the South West London & St George’s Mental Health Trust has been based at Springfield University Hospital in Tooting. It also operates from almost 100 other locations, providing mental health and community services to 39,500 people each year. The Trust is subject to Department of Health plans for Sustainable Development. After the Trust sent the annual electricity consumption details for Richmond Royal hospital, it was possible to give a provisional quote for a powerPerfector unit and the energy savings that would be expected.
