Bury Schools encouraged to ‘go green’
Schools in Bury are being encouraged to ‘go green’ by embracing technology that has been adopted by the council and reduces energy costs and carbon.
Parrenthorn High School, on Heywood Road, is the first in the borough to have installed Voltage Power Optimisation technology that reduces the voltage within the building from the supply average of 242V to the optimum voltage for electrical equipment, which is 220V. Uniquely, the technology also features embedded power conditioning, improving the quality of power the school receives, meaning greater savings and a more secure supply.

pP to launch UK units at trade shows
powerPerfector will use the two major trade shows to launch its new UK manufactured VPO® units this month.
The company transferred manufacturing from Japan earlier this year and the first UK units were recently installed at a Marston's pub in Wolverhampton.
The units are more efficient and have a considerably reduced embedded carbon footprint, meaning carbon payback is reduced by 17 per cent.

National Express in the fast lane
National Express has launched an industry leading sustainability partnership with powerPerfector.
The partnership will see the installation of a range of energy conservation measures across National Express sites.
The first phase saw 35 National Express sites evaluated for suitability for the roll out of green technologies. Voltage Power Optimisation was implemented in nine National Express bus garages, reducing electricity consumption by an average of 16 per cent.
Abbey wedded to a greener future
Westminster Abbey has become the first church in the UK to install powerPerfector's Voltage Power Optimisation.
The Church of England is committed to a carbon reduction target of 80% by 2050, with an interim target of 42% by 2020. The installation of two powerPerfector units at the Abbey ensures that the supply is more efficient and secure.
It will cut bills by over 12 per cent, saving approximately £8,400 a year on energy spend.
powerPerfector employee to lead BIFM
powerPerfector's Ismena Clout is to be the 11th Chair of the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) after being elected by the BIFM Board on 23 February 2012.
Ismena, an account manager in the powerPerfector Partner’s Team, will officially become Chair on 12 July 2012 and follows current Chair Ian Broadbent in to a two-year tenure leading the Institute.
David Lloyd Leisure raises the bar
David Lloyd Leisure, Europe’s premium health and fitness Group is tackling its UK carbon emissions head on,
using an Energy Performance Investment contract (EPI).
This pay-as-you-save deal means that David Lloyd Leisure benefits from reduced energy use and cost reductions from the outset. The Group will implement energy and carbon saving technologies at 35 sites across the UK without any upfront cost being entirely funded through third parties.
