Uplifting energy savings at Howard Centre
Why it is interesting: One of the main areas of debate regarding Voltage Optimisation is about old equipment. While all CE rated equipment must work at reduced voltages, we find that some engineers remain concerned that voltage optimisation will have an impact on onsite operations. The Howard Centre is an example of how powerPerfector works with clients and contractors to ensure a smooth installation.Read more...
Savings on the Forecourt
Why it is interesting: Many of the potential clients we speak to believe that Voltage Power Optimisation is a technology for large industrial sites with high and rising energy costs. The truth is that VPO® is successfully used across a range of buildings big and small.Read more...
Cutting cost and carbon on the High Street
Why it is interesting: As an organisation the John Lewis Partnership has a long-term commitment to improving its environmental performance, and is making a significant investment to achieve this. This case study shows how VPO® has fitted in to an extensive programme of carbon reduction measures within Waitrose and how it can be introduced in a phased manner.Read more...
Retail roll-out makes huge savings
Why it is interesting: As part of their commitment to tackling climate change, Tesco's have invested in the ongoing powerPerfector rollout to help reduce their carbon emissions.
The first voltage management unit in the UK was installed in 2000 in a Tesco store in the town of Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire. Since then we have installed at every viable Tesco store, office and distribution hub across the UK and we continue to be rolled out within new build stores and abroad.
By comparing usage before and after the installation of each powerPerfector unit, savings have been demonstrated for the store of 10.3%.
To date around 1,500 units have been installed across the Tesco estate, saving in the region of £11million every year, whilst offsetting over 75 million kg of carbon dioxide.
Annual Savings: kWh: 6% | CO2: 77,342,000kg | £11,171,700
Why it is interesting: The Carrs Volkswagen dealership is based in Indian Queens, Cornwall, where it employs 55 people in its two showrooms and two car workshops. It became one of the first car showrooms to install a powerPerfector in February 2008. Typical of this type of building the majority of its electrical load consists of HVAC, lighting and motors, which typically see good savings from powerPerfector's Voltage Power Optimisation.
After receiving the annual electricity consumption details for Carrs Volkswagen, it was possible to give a provisional quote for a powerPerfector unit and to outline the potential for energy savings. After a survey of the site by a powerPerfector Approved Contractor, the installation took place at a time which would cause minimum disruption to the site. Analysis following the installation showed that there was an average reduction in kWh consumption of 9.3% attributable to the powerPerfector installation.
Annual Savings: kWh: 9.3% | CO2: 14,000kg | £2,200
