Whitbread is the UK’s leading hotel operator and owns some of the biggest hospitality brands including 1,200 Premier Inn hotels and the restaurant chains Beefeater, Brewers Fayre, Table Table, and Bar + Block. The business serves over five million customers every month and employs over 35,000 people.
Our solution
Whitbread decided to invest in a powerPerfector unit which provides fast, precise and stable voltage control to the site regardless of conditions or voltage fluctuations. This control benefits and protects site equipment ensuring maximum efficiency from the new site.
powerPerfector installed the unit shortly after the hotel opened and went live between breakfast and lunch, minimising the impact on guests. The unit was fully functioning in less than two hours due to extensive preparation work, causing minimal disturbance to hotel operations.
The brief
The London Woolwich Premier Inn is a 128 room hotel in Arsenal which houses a Beefeater restaurant. Hotels are a 24-hour operation and therefore use energy continuously in varying degrees. The addition of the restaurant involves the use of further equipment such as refrigeration and extraction which provides a lot of potential for saving energy.
The results
Savings achieved were verified by Trans-Euro Engineering Services. Verification tests were carried out at various intervals throughout the day and night showing savings in real time.
Results showed a 6% saving across the entire building and, when broken down in specific operations, the kitchen saw savings of 12.5% with 11% savings secured for the 5th floor.
