Three-phase power supplies, as opposed to single phase, provide power at a near-constant level (415V on average). This is important in ensuring three-phase motors, common in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) run smoothly. Most medium to large sites will be supplied with three phases. The voltage is transmitted from the national grid in 120° phase intervals.
The effects of an imbalance in the phase voltages are similar to harmonic effects, in that it causes heating in motors and existing wiring, and results in wasted energy consumption.
powerPerfector’s unique Voltage Power Optimisation (VPO)® improves power quality and reduces phase voltage imbalance. We help organisations manage fundamental and disruptive changes to electrical supply.
