Novotel London Bridge, located south of the River Thames, is a busy 182-room hotel with modern facilities. Part of the Accor Hotels Group, the 4-star hotel also offers meeting and conference rooms as well as a fitness centre and a wedding function suite.
The Accor Hotel Group is committed to reducing energy consumption and limiting the environmental footprint of its hotels, as outlined in its Planet 21 Programme.
To assist Novotel London Bridge in reducing its energy consumption, we installed a 440kVa / 630 amp powerPerfector unit in 2015, with a 9% optimisation setting. Technology advanced in leaps and bounds over the next two years, leading to the development of powerPerfector iQ, which uses cutting-edge electronic voltage control technology to maximise savings. The hotel was keen to upgrade and we installed a powerPerfector iQ unit.
A busy London hotel can’t afford any downtime! We needed to ensure minimal disruption to the usual routine and so our PRINCE2-qualified project management team worked with our approved installers to minimise disruption to the hotel’s guests.
Three months after the installation, we reviewed the energy usage and created a savings report which showed that we had met the predicted savings and that the return on investment was on track.
We used a Power Quality Analyser to monitor electricity consumption data and found that existing savings had increased by up to 30%. The hotel’s overall energy efficiency also increased because any phase voltage imbalance was corrected at source, which protected against voltage swells and dips.
The data also suggested that the average kWh consumption at the hotel was 9% lower, following the installation of the powerPerfector iQ.
